
As you know, Plan 2 members who want to transfer to Plan 3 must complete the Member Information Form (MIF). Please remind these individuals they must provide you with the MIF by January 31, 2007, to become a Plan 3 member. Refer to TRS, SERS and PERS Plan 2 Members Can Choose to Join Plan 3 in January for detailed information including the criteria for determining if a member is eligible to transfer to Plan 3 and access to the MIF.
Elected officials are exempt from mandatory membership in the Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS). However, they can apply and become a member if they choose to do so. You should not report elected officials to DRS prior to receiving direction to do so from DRS staff. Refer to the Elected Officials for more information.
