Beginning September 1, 2007, our Saturday seminars will focus on information for those who are retiring in less than five years.
The 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. seminar, presented free of charge by DRS staff, will go over how your retirement benefit is calculated, financial and estate planning, health insurance, VEBA, Social Security and the Deferred Compensation Program. The new format is specifically designed to help nearly-retired members successfully move to the next phase of life.
Attendance statistics show that most members who attend the Saturday sessions are at this stage in their lives and careers. Because our goal is to provide the right retirement planning tools at the right time, we’re changing the focus. (Meanwhile, we’re working on new sessions aimed at helping those in the beginning and mid-stages of their careers plan for a happy and healthy retirement. Watch for more information soon.)
If you are less than five years from retirement, please sign up as soon as possible. The sessions fill quickly.
Attendees will receive a workbook with detailed information and your spouse or partner is welcome to join us. Because we meet as a group, individual appointments are not held during the seminar. You can always arrange a one-on-one appointment, however, by calling DRS and asking to meet with a Retirement Services Analyst.
