Meet the new Director

DRS Director Steve Hill

In February, Governor Gregoire appointed Health Care Authority's (HCA) Administrator Steve Hill as director of Department of Retirement Systems (DRS). Steve will also continue in his role as Administrator of HCA.

"The Governor has offered me a unique challenge — to head up two different organizations," said Steve. "I believe we can realize some shared activities that will benefit our employers and improve our service to them," he added.

Before he began his career in public service, he worked in human resources for Weyerhaeuser. In 2005 Gregoire appointed him to administer HCA.

"The two agencies already have a good history of working together on important projects," said Steve, citing as an example the transfer of the Dependent Care Assistance Program (DCAP) from DRS to HCA. The move was a result of a discussion between the agencies, which led to an interagency agreement to transfer the program as of January 2008. The transfer became law in January 2009.

In the months ahead the agencies will look for opportunities to learn from each other in the areas of outreach and customer service.

You can continue to contact the PEBB Program for questions about your employees' health benefits, and ESS for retirement-related questions.
