We are pleased to let you know the Department of Retirement Systems will soon be launching a new design of the Employer Handbook on the DRS website.
The new Handbook design contains a number of improvements aimed at making easier to find, view and navigate through the content.
The new format is based on input we’ve received from our employer partners – including the Employer Advisory Committee and a group of employers
who volunteered their time to test various prototypes – and from the DRS Employer Support Services Team. This input has guided us in revamping
the Handbook to address a number of areas, including:
- Presentation of the landing page and the main navigation menu
- Layout of content
- Navigation within individual chapters
- Printing individual chapters and subsections
The new Handbook design will become active on Wednesday, Oct. 26. It will be available through the same link as always: http://www.drs.wa.gov/employer/EmployerHandbook/
. However, it is
important to note that bookmarks to content within the old Handbook will no longer function after the new publication is launched. (This
is because the new format consolidates scores of standalone files into single pages to simplify navigation, viewing and printing).
The new Handbook will include a “tour” of the layout and content to help you get familiar with the presentation. If at any time you have difficulty
locating something, please contact our team at the numbers listed below. Also, we hope you will share this message with others in your
organization who access the Handbook.
DRS will continue to look for improvements and enhancements to the Handbook as we go forward with this new design. With that in mind, your
