The checklist below presents a series of questions to help you determine the eligibility of your positions and personnel. As you respond to the questions, you will be directed to the next question. You can restart the checklist at any time.

Question: Is this position considered permanent, meaning it does not have a scheduled end date?

Question: Is the employee in the position regularly scheduled to provide at least 160 hours of compensated service each calendar month?

Question: Was the employee hired by your organization on or after July 1, 2006?

Question: Was the employee a PERS 2/3 member that elected to join PSERS between July 1, 2006 and September 30, 2006?

Question: Is the employee one of the following:

  • Commissioned as a limited authority Washington peace officer?
  • In a position that requires completion of a certified criminal justice training course, with the authority to arrest, conduct criminal investigations, enforce criminal laws and carry a firearm?
  • In a position where the primary responsibility is to ensure the custody and security of incarcerated or probationary individuals?
  • In a position with primary responsibility to supervise other PSERS members?
  •   Yes
  •   No

You have completed evaluating all your PSERS positions. If during this process you discovered that you have been reporting an employee in an ineligible position there are some steps you MUST take:

  1. Immediately stop reporting the employee in the ineligible position.
  2. Contact Employer Support Services to determine if corrections are necessary.
