Larry Bona: The Friendly Person on the Other End of the Line

Before becoming part of the Employer Support team at DRS in 2006, Larry Bona worked in Trust Accounting and on the project to get SERS Plan 3 up and running. He has a terrific reputation for focusing on his customers’ concerns to help solve their problems. If you ever have a difficult retirement question, give Larry a call and he’ll make sure you get an answer.

  1. How long have you worked for DRS?
I started working at DRS Trust Accounting with the SERS 3 implementation in August 2000.
  2. How many phone calls from employers do you typically answer in a day?
I usually get about a call about every 15 minutes (30+/- per day).
  3. What’s the funniest question you’ve ever been asked by an employer?
"Can you tell the Legislature that we just can’t afford these rate increases?”
  4. What’s the best advice you have for employers?
Don’t stress over a retirement question. If in doubt, don’t delay – call or email.
  5. What do you like about working with employers?
Developing relationships where we can address what needs to be done, get it done, and enjoying the fact that I know I’ve done my best for members and employers.
