Your benefits may be affected if you return to work for a Washington public employer after retirement, depending on the position and how much you work. If you return to work in a position that is eligible for membership in the Washington State Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS), School Employees’ Retirement System (SERS) or Teachers’ Retirement System (TRS), you can choose to continue to receive your benefits or you can choose to become a member of that retirement system.
