Old Age & Survivors Insurance (OASI) means Social Security.
This notice from the Department of Retirement Systems, in its role as the State Social Security Administrator, is to remind public agencies of the unique reporting and withholding requirements for election workers.
The Oct. 4 edition of the IRS’ Federal State & Local Government newsletter included a brief article indicating that some election workers may be covered by a Section 218 Agreement. DRS would like to emphasize that election workers are specifically excluded from the state of Washington’s Master Section 218 Agreement. In other words, election workers are not covered by a Section 218 Agreement in Washington. This means your agency will follow the normal IRS rules regarding reporting and withholding requirements for election workers.
