Find retiree news on DRS website
DRS knows that for new retirees there are many changes that come with big life transitions such as retirement. We have set up a page just for retirees. On this page you can sign up for future updates from DRS by entering your email address.
Our retiree page has lots of great information that can come in handy throughout your retirement. Here are a few things to keep in mind as you continue to adjust to retired life:
- DRS will mail your 1099-R tax form by the end of January each year. You can also view your 1099-R in your online DRS account.
- Since we will mail you this important form each year, it is important to keep your mailing address up to date with DRS. You can update all your contact information in your online DRS account or by completing the appropriate form from the DRS website and mailing it to us.
- Retirees often find they need to change their tax withholdings after filing their tax returns. You can complete the IRS W-4P form in your online DRS account. We also have a short video and withholding calculator to help you understand this form.
- If you ever need to verify your retirement income, for a mortgage or some other reason, you can print a “pension verification letter” from your online DRS account. For Social Security income verification, watch: How to get a Social Security benefit verification letter.
Check out the retirees page when you get the chance. If you find that you have questions, feel free to contact us.
Oh…one more thing: You may have subscribed to member news as an active member, but did you know we have another news list just for retired members? You can check your subscriptions by visiting the link above.
