Subject: DRS Notice 24-019, Encrypted Emails to Secure Employee Data
What is happening:
To protect the Personally Identifiable Information (PII) of our customers, DRS is heightening the security for email communication that includes PII of your employees. Any email from DRS that contains the last 4 digits of an employee’s Social Security number, or any other personally identifiable information, will be encrypted.
What you need to do:
If you receive an encrypted email from DRS, follow the instructions in the email to open its contents.
- Select the blue button to Read the message.
- Select the link to Sign in with One-time passcode.
- The screen will then display a One-time passcode.
- Enter the 8-digit passcode on the original screen.
- Access the message.
The email will have a button that’s labelled, “Read the message.” Beneath the button will be the following text: “You have received an encrypted email from the State of Washington. If you require assistance, please contact the sender of the message or your agency’s IT support desk.”
